Policies
"Two free lessons" policy: To help manage scheduling conflicts (either through the student or teacher), I have included two free lessons during the year (one in the Fall, one in the Winter). For example, if there are 34 scheduled lessons, the students will only pay for 32.
Payments: Payment in full (cash or cheque) or with post-dated cheques made payable to: Catherine Ready
Receipts: Receipts issued after payment and Children's Arts Tax Credit receipts will be given at the end of each calendar year.
Cancellation: If the student is sick or 24-hour notice is given, we can arrange a make-up lesson. Each student will be given two free lessons during the year in case of scheduling conflicts that cannot be worked out. If 24-hour notice cannot be given, please leave me a message through phone, text message or email.
Materials: All students are required to bring the appropriate music books and a blank notebook to each lesson. The notebook will be used to take notes of what was accomplished during the lesson, and what the student should practice during the week.
Practice Guidelines: Students are expected to have a piano or suitable keyboard to practice. Keyboards should have weighted keys to simulate the touch of piano. Ideally, young students should practice 5 - 6 times per week.
Ages 5-7: 10-15 minutes per session
Ages 8-10: 15-20 minutes daily
Ages: 11-13: 20-30 minutes daily
Ages: 14 and up: 45-60 minutes daily
Recitals: Two recitals per year, in December and June. Friends and family are all welcome to attend.
General Notes: If you arrive early for your lesson, please enter the studio space quietly and be respectful of the student in a lesson. Also, there is absolutely no running allowed in the gallery space. Thank you!
