About Catherine

Hello! My name is Catherine Ready, and I graduated in June 2011 with a Bachelor of Music: Piano Concentration from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. While in Montreal, I studied solo and collaborative piano, conducting, music education, vocal, string and guitar techniques, music theory and music history. I sang in the McGill University Chorus and McGill Jazz Choir and was also involved in student government as an Undergraduate Senator for McGill Senate and as the President of the Music Undergraduate Students’ Association.
I am originally from Regina, Saskatchewan and returned home after my degree to begin teaching piano and theory lessons. My current studio includes students age 6 to young adult and I work with beginner and intermediate students in both classical and pop genres. I currently prepare students for Royal Conservatory of Music piano and theory exams and to compete in the Regina Music Festival. I grew up studying piano, theory and voice through the Royal Conservatory of Music, completing my Grade 10 Piano, Grade 9 Voice and Grade 3 Theory and attended Campbell Collegiate High School in Regina, where I sang in three choirs, played clarinet in two bands and piano in a jazz band.
I believe in a well-rounded approach to musical training, using the piano to develop a musical ear, the foundation of all good music-making. I am now a full-time arts education teacher with Regina Public Schools, after completing a Bachelor of Education: Music Education at the University of Regina in 2013. I am also certified in Orff Schulwerk training, Level 1. It is my hope to continue to improve and expand my teaching method through education studies. In addition to teaching music, I am a Skate Canada figure skating judge and evaluator.
